Every year since June 27, 1994 has been Press and Media Workers Day in Uzbekistan. This professional holiday was established by a Presidential Decree in June 1993. A special recognition of the activities of workers of mass media is demonstrated by the fact that the celebration of this momentous date is shared with them not only by representatives of the sphere but also by millions of readers, viewers, subscribers to electronic media, in a word, by all those who use the product of their creative and work.
There is no doubt that Uzbekistan’s mass media are becoming active participants in the unprecedented reforms taking place in our country, a powerful force calling on people and the masses at large to think differently, awaken spiritually and change consciousness. The role and influence of the press and the media in our life is growing, and their position as the “fourth estate” is being strengthened.
Of course, at the heart of this high trust and recognition lies, above all, the daily, painstaking, responsible work of the entire creative community - journalists, editors, publishers, thousands and thousands of hardworking workers in television, the printing industry, and modern information and communication networks.
At a time when our country is reaching a new level of development, when openness and transparency, freedom of speech and thought are becoming the criteria of our life, the responsibility of this profession is growing even more. In addition, as a result of today’s legal democratic reforms, there is a growing demand and need for objective and up-to-date information from the public.
The work carried out by the head of state to further support the activities of the media, strengthen their material and technical base, increase the role and authority of media workers in social life and stimulate their hard work is yielding results.
In particular, at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgy Complex comprehensive support is provided to print publications, social networks and television channel, sufficient conditions are created for the activities of creative team, objective coverage of reforms in today’s socio-political life of the country, the life of the plant and the city.
Over the past two years, the information service of JSC “Almalyk MMC” - the corporate TV channel “OKMK TV”, newspapers “For Nonferrous Metals” and “Rangli Metallar”, and the website - have been provided with modern professional equipment. This, in its turn, positively influences the efficiency and quality of the work. The official website of AMMC - agmk.uz, Telegram channels “AGMK” and “7/24” are becoming increasingly popular today. The most relevant and interesting videos of the TV studio are posted on the video hosting site YouTube and other social networks, which makes them available to a wide audience. Since August 28, 2019, “OKMK TV” TV channel with an 18-hour digital broadcasting schedule is on the air, which has already become firmly rooted in the lives of the residents of Almalyk and nearby areas.
I would like to take this opportunity to cordially congratulate all journalists, our esteemed veterans, who selflessly work and develop national mass media, with their professional holiday!
I wish you strength, good health and creative perfection in conscientiously fulfilling your responsible but honorable duty! May your pen always be sharp!
